I've got a '84 3/4 ton and am looking for a way to strengthen the rear suspension mostly for heavy work loads but for some towing as well. Looking for recommendations, ie, shocks, airbags, leaf springs, axles, which is the best way to upgrade without going broke, thanks, Liam

Airbags.

I have Airlift (http://www.airliftcompany.com), and they've been great. The kit is complete and install is simple. Firestone's are also good.

www.summitracing.com has the Airlift kit for your truck for about $220. Firestone is about $15 more. Kit's are different for 2wd vs. 4wd, or other options, so you'll have to spec it.

If you choose airbags, the Airlift Sureset compressor/controller is awesome. Electronic control of the airbags (individual, L/R) with NO airlines/gages in the cab. The control head is smaller than a brake controller. Very nice, regardless of the airbag brand used. Airlift extends their airbag warranty to lifetime if you install the Sureset. It's a little costly ($289), but the kit is complete and install is simple.
