Do the 1500 and 2500 cv axles share the same spline/diameter pattern, so that I could just swap out to the 2500 front hubs?

Reason being, the Tahoe is going under the knife sometime soon here and I'm going to be throwing a 14bolt rear end in it (preferably the FF 10.5" 8lug) but only if I can make the front end match the 8 lug pattern...otherwise I'll be going the SF 6 lug route...

Any help/info would be appreciated, thanks!

There are some differences in the suspension between the 1500 and 2500 one being that the 1500 is lighter built.
The axles are somewhat smaller and the bolt flange where they fasten to the center section is smaller too.
I am suspect that they wont interchange.

Now you may be able to swap the whole 9 yards including the center section as well as the spindle and hubs over to the 1500 from the heavier unit.

Not sure as I have never done one but it might be worth looking at.

If you have a friendly contact at the local bone yard, he/she might let you look at some rigs and compare bits and pieces.

Good luck and let us know the outcome

There might be light at the end of the tunnel...according the www.advanceautoparts.com a 95 k2500 pickup (with the 6.5TD of course...) shares the same left/right CV axle part numbers...so the question really is, do the 6 lug and 8 lug hubs share the same mounting pattern onto the kunckle/spindle.

I read an article in the newest issue of Diesel World magazine where they swapped the 8-lug front spindles and rear axle on a 2500 Dodge 2WD truck to be able to run 5-lug 1/2 ton parts (to allow running higher speed rated tires). Maybe this would work on a 1.2 ton GM to go the other way....

Definitely let us know what you find out for sure. I've been considering doing the same thing with my '95 Tahoe as well.

I'm hoping to make it to a U-pull it yard over the next couple of weeks...although I might just do it the easy way - buy 1 k2500 hub and see if I can mount it on my Tahoe...if it fits, I'll buy another one; otherwise I'll return it and say it wasn't the problem...

Better yet, if you know your parts guy have him pull the hub for both off the shelf and compare them side by side.

You can tell easily without spending the $$$ and then needing to return stuff.
