I was reading about the remote systems and I am going to go with this company. Is this the same size as my oil cooler lines?

prm-114 oil filter adapter 13/16 -16 threads w/1/2 in ports

prm-1223 oil filter mount - dual w/ 1/2 in ports
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRM%2D1223&N=700+0&autoview=sku

kit PRM-10795 not sure about the 1/2 in ports though?

Also I am not sure if I want to run single or dual. I do not think the duel will do that much more than a single maybe maybe not.

single PRM-1793

I am thinking of also getting a bypass setup but not a this time.

So what do you guys think? also what part number would you go with.

thanks guys

I went with the individual pieces prm 114, prm-1223 (13/16 thread & 1/2 NPT ports, dual filter head).

Be aware on install the female thread of the engine block on the filter base is metric (iirc 18mm). GM used an adapter one side is metric and the other classic gm 13/16. There is one in the end of the 4x4 adatper if you decide to take off the adapter. IF you take off the adapter you'll have to get some 90 degree elbows to run lines. Perma cool offers some that will work. Off the shelf plumbing elbows have to be shortened to work. Later I switched to the Canton Racing Products swivel adapter for filter pad but not sure I had to if I would have used perma-cool's elbows. CRP adapter has to be modified some too but orientation is a bit easier. Perma-cools you have to tighten to desired orientation like any other rigid plumbing elbow

I'd go with dual head filter base. No its not really double filtering oil because the filters are in parallel. But I kinda like this in a remote mount because 2x filter area hopefully has less pressure drop across filters. (Bad part is I guess filters actually filter less for a while if..... theorizing as filters start to "clog up" they will start to filter more stuff because media starts to "plug up".) But again I like the 2x filter media area to reduce pressure drop across filters (especially after they start to plug up as then pressure drop increases over filters again just my thinking) and it increases oil capacity some.

Hose connections are your preference. I personally don't like the hose clamp kit permacool offers. Thier hose is ok but I had hydaulic ends crimped on. Not sure if thats better or not. The thing about fittings is the effective id. What ever you decide get hose rated for at least 300F. The proximity to exhaust should also be considered and some protection provided if you route close to it.

thanks for the long post. I have 4x4 and I will have to look and see what looks best for me to do about the Elbow adapter. Also I will probably use ss lines or hydrolic line we will see.

One nice feature about the CantonRacingProducts adapter is it eliminates any need for elbows , which have ID restriction issues. 1/2" NPT fittings are OK , but keep the hose ID greater than 1/2" [5/8" or 3/4"].
