What color wire is this, and where is it located? Vehicle is a '96 2500 GMC pick up.
Thanks,
Brad

The brake output is a blue wire, and the 12+ charge wire is orange. Both wires are located together at the rear of the truck, taped in a loop up in the frame rail behind the bumper/receiver.

The bad news is that they aren't connected to anything at the front of the truck, unless someone else has already installed a brake controller in the past. Open the hood, and the blue and orange wires are taped together in a loop down below the brake booster on the firewall. They can be hard to see, so take a flashlight and hunt for them. Sometimes it helps to get underneath the truck and find them running up into the engine compartment. Untape the wires, and the orange wire will have a round wire terminal on it. It connects to one of two power lugs located under the black fuse/relay cover on the driver's side fenderwell. The other power lug is for the brake control. The power lugs require 8mm nuts, not provided.

The blue wire needs to be run into the cab and connected to the blue wire on the brake controller. Another wire needs to be run from the power lug on the relay center into the cab and connected to the black (or 12+ input) on the brake controller. The brake controller also needs a ground wire, and another wire that is 12+ (usually red) when the brake pedal is depressed. You'll have to tap off one of the white wires coming off the brake pedal switch when it is depressed.

Good luck!

Casey
