:) Hi,

New guy here... I recently bought a 1983 GMC C2500 and I'm upgrading the alternator/generator from the 12si to a CS-144.

Does any one know the GM part numbers for cs-144 or 17si brackets used on 6.2 diesels?

Can I use 6.5 cs-144 or 17si brackets?

If so what part numbers should I look for?

Thanks!!

ordiesel,

Here are a couple of references that may help in your alternator project.

Delphi realized a rather good market existed in the si to cs conversion with the corvette owners. Delphi even engineered and produced the adapter pkugs that are mentioned. If you have a voltage gauge, you'll need the resistor pigtail.

General discription of the upgrade.

If your junkyard shopping or want to buy the more correct model fast.

I have'nt done this conversion, Thought about it, but then went off in another direction.
