Hi all,I am looking for something for towing heavy, but safe for engine and stock trans. What has been proven so far that has least or no issues ? Thanks

I have had juice on my last 2 trucks , both had issues nothing big but my new lbz truck is going to get custom software.....maybe live EFI or a JK custom tune, havent pulled the trigger yet. I have read some good post on JK custom tow / econo tune. not huge numbers but the stock trans cant deal with big power ! my feeling is 70 hp is about the most a stock trans can handle with the LBZ , the older trucks 90 hp is about the ceiling.
With the stock hp and torque of the LBZ, why would you want to try and mess with it and risk losing your warranty? I for one don't plan on touching mine. It works fine just the way it is. Only normal maintenance for me. Ed

Thanks, I just thought a little more would be nice,I do agree with Ed, it does pull great. And I should leave it alone. Our 07 LBZ pulls better than our 02 did w/edge set on level 2. But you know we always want more than we have.

I now have a KD custom tune installed...... It pulls as hard if not harder then my lly truck with juice set on 3 and its almost smoke free ! Runs smooth with just a slight "diesel" rattle when its makeing big power , so far its the best power adder I have had on any of my trucks. Thanks to John and the time spent developing this tune I think it will get slightly better fuel economy then stock .

Thanks Mark, Let me know how it does in the next few months. It sounds like it might be the way to go.

Well I am not sure exactly how to put this .... I have owned 5 gm giesel trucks this 2006 lbz with JK's custom performance/tow tune flat out rips ! It will tow my 31' 9000+lbs holiday rambler up hill at 65 mph at 1600 rpm and not down shift from 6th gear. This past week I went out threw the Adirondeck mountains and the Birkshire mountains at 75 mph up hills with no issues or lack of power to spare ! To be honest with you Edge juice doesnt stand a chance in keeping up with this tune , the low end TQ is truely amazing to say the least ! Empty the truck is much quicker then even the hot juice I had on the LLY truck.
I run a MBRP 4" cat back exhaust , a AFE drop in air filter and a Transgo Jr shift kit on my truck.... basicly its almost stock , there isnt many trucks or cars that can keep up to it if the turbo is spooled up. Zero black smoke , just a hint of gray smoke(almost looks like dust blowing around at the curb) . If I had it to do again to my older trucks Live EFI is the way to go but I think the key is JK has put a good amount of time getting this tune to work great ! Fuel economy on my 650 mile trip I did the math and show just over 1 MPG better then before the ECm swap ( 11.4 MPG towing at 70~75 MPH in the hills) . Highway fuel economy looks like it may be better but I only have about 200 miles empty at this time and some of that is showing the guys I can spank them big time at the traffic lights .
TX to Jk and his wife for the fast turn around , only wished I did it a mile one not at 35,000 miles ...... Fantastic tune , keep up the good work !

Thanks for the upate. I wish I hadn't asked, cause now I'll have to get one. Buy I know my wife won't let me change the exhaust. I guess it would be OK with stock exhaust?

JK say to me he is running this program in his lbz truck that is 100% stock .... NO mods , just a tune and he is very happy with the fact that is quiet . If you do just the ECM reflash and nothing else you will be really happy with it.

Any empty mpg changes? Should be across 20mpg on a flat road at 60-65 mph.

will your tune void the factory warrenty?
will your tune void the factory warrenty?
It certainly could, as could most any other modification.
Technically speaking any modification to exhaust/intake/tuning etc could hang you up. This is why I prefer the out of sight=out of mind approach. With my tuning, the ECM is simply swapped out and the original stashed in a safe place. No aftermarket hardware to see or fail.

can you give a "ballpark" idea what the cost would be for another ECM and your tune???
I am putting on a 4" turbo back
but keeping the stocker just in case, dealership said I could a cat-back

Edge Juice w/ Attitude. Best all around performance. No problems. Good luck on the search.

The way my truck was before the tune I was seeing 15~16 mpg with a heavy foot at speeds 75 ~80 mph , Now its 17+ MPG with the last 3 tank fulls empty. Towing shows a solid 1~1.5 MPG better then stock with 9200 pounds of 31' holiday rambler in tow. Power to spare in the hills and keep me smileing .
Thanks again John !

A well known GMC dealer in Ogden Utah has signage on its new 2007 Dmaxes that say in big block letters "Edge Products". Now is GM going along with this or are any problems that might occur because of the product being covered at the dealer? I know that some time ago in another city near Salt Lake that they were also advertising Edge. Whats up? Is GM now suddenly ok with this? Me thinks Not. Maybe the dealer is closing the deals with a disclaimer.

Any ecm / sensor fooling devices is going to be a BIG issue with GM and the EPA , again out of site / not in the truck at time of service or inspection time and you will be fine. I would never by a truck with a dealer knowing it had a power adder on it , I would go to the aftermarket company so there was NO paper trail that could be connected !

I should also add to my fuel milage statement above that this is a 4x4 crew cab truck with a cap and ladder rack on the bed and 800+ lbs in the bed of the truck every day .true is not as high of mileage like some owner that claim they get more then 19 mpg , but there is no way "they" are going to drive beside me on the highway and the speeds that I travel and live up to there claims. Drafting and driving slow I dont question it adds 2~3 MPG , I just dont have time to wait for a truck thats willing to run over 70 mph.

i have been working with a local diesel performance shop and quadzilla is BY FAR the best programmer available for the duramax. I thought EDGE was good...and it is, but we did not see the same performance gains as we did with the quadzilla stealth II. If you get the race version of the programmer ($300 more...), hang on. And you better have a heavy duty torque converter too. Banks needs to go back to the drawing board. We only saw a HP increase of ~20hp on level 6!!!! Whats the deal with that???? Bullydog was ok too....but nothing compared to Quadzilla Stealth II. They deserve a pat on the back. ~200hp at the rear wheels....programmer only....WOW
At 200RWHP gain that puts you well across 500RWHP. I really doubt that the OE Garrett turbo can move enough air to get there, but I could be wrong...

I'm sorry and i stand corrected. they did modify the wastegate to pump more PSI, i think they put on a banks??? I'm sorry, i dont know much about this since im just getting into it....
but on the other hand, i just can't believe the possibility of diesel engines...wow

waste gate ???? LLY , LBZ , LLM motors dont have "waste gates" they use varyible geometry turbos that change to amount of slip in the exhaust housing.
If your correct they most likely are tuning a LB7 truck 2001 ~2004 vintage motor or they are useing a old school turbo ....
