I don't really think that there is a "GOOD CODE READER" for 200-300 dollars. Speaking from experience, the best tool is the GM TECH2. Only problem is that even my cost it is 2500 dollars (That's at GMDE.net) Look for yourself. Those prices at http://gmde.net/ are for dealers only. If you go to http://www.vetronix.com/ you will find out that the Tech2 is actually about 5k for the average JOE. It also comes with tons of support and updates I do believe. Working at a dealer, I don't have to worry about updates. They come to the dealership by way of the internet every couple of weeks or so.

The other thing about aftermarket code readers and scanners is that they can sometimes set codes themselves because they are not 100% compatible with the GM controller architecture. ;)

I bought the Diablo Predator from Kennedy and it reads and resets codes as well as increase the power level. It has come in very handy as the truck had a code for glow plug controller which I replaced to today. Probably saved a couple hundred taking it to the stealer!

Kirkes,

Discount auto parts/Advance Auto Parts, Pep boys, Napa, etc... all have code readers that are under $100.. I'm not sure if they let you reset the computer...
