do you guys think 1400 is to much for a navistar casting? That is a used block that has been magnafluxed and bored to whatever diameter I choose for pistons. Also, do you think 475 a head (assembled) is to much for new heads, navistar castings also?
thanks for the input

Not sure if I would pay that for used iron.
I had a fellow yesterday offer me a new Navistar cast block with pistons, ring, and some other goodies for $1700
I am pondering the issue.
New iron is spendy BUTTTTTTTTTT??
I chated with Jim briefly on this too. Use your own judgement and be sure to cover your butt as far as getting a gaurantee that the sucker has no cracks.
Good luck

heres my thoughts...
1400 is a lot of money for a block, but...
1. it is a navistar casting so I won't have to worry about cracking.
2. its already machined and bored to my specs which costs some money.
3. and I plan on doing a custom build so I don't want used pistons, cam or crank.
My plans, which will take a while, for the long block are a, scat crank, new rods if I can find them, kennedy 18:1 pistons, navistar heads that have been ported, polished and ceramic coated with a rebuild kit from northern auto parts.
please chime in with any ideas or input
micky
