I just finished installing on my 02 Dmax. What does the resignator do? I currently still have it on. Pros and cons of with or without.

Sorry mis spelled it, resonator is the correct spelling per the AFE install instructions. The black thing on top of the motor that says Duramax 6.6 hooks to the air intake line leading to the engine inlet.

The idea behind the resonator is supposedly to tune out certain frequencies of noise. You can try running without and see how it works. The 2001 models did not have this device.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently running without it. Seems to be fine.
