Can anyone recommend a shop (or individual) for a camper repair?

My Terry had a leak in the slide, I have a section of loose fiberglass & some other water damage, mostly in the slide.

Preferably central Indiana, or between Indiana & Oklahoma or Texas. Will consider other areas if fesable.

Thanks in advance.

You are lucky to be in Indiana. That is the home of many trailer, motorhome, camper manufacturer's. Do a search in Elkhart, I know that there are many dealers in the area and they also do repairs. I don't have any names but there are many there.

Also, check with the RV manufacturer for recalls. I had a similar situation on an older 5th wheel, and it was repaired by a local dealer. Fleetwood paid for it, even though it was nearly 10 years old. In any case, an RV dealer service dept should be able to repair/replace the panel. They do it all the time. Isn't Indiana the trailer mfg capitol of the world? Shouldn't have a problem finding a good place to get it repaired.

Thanks for the posts, I think I will call Fleetwood on Tuesday.

I talked to SEVERAL dealers, (reputable & un), 2 of them didn't even call me back when I told them what kind of work needed to be done. One said they would just have to replace the entire wall.

I found someone in southern IN that quoted me a very reasonable price for the repair.

If there are no recalls, I think this is what I will do.

Doug,

I'm also looking at a delamination repair. Who are you looking toward in southern IN for the repair?

THANX!!

I will post again after the repair is complete with more details & report the quality of work.
It should be ready in the next couple of weeks.

This isn't meant to be critical, but before I bought my current (all-aluminum) motorhome, I looked at about 100. The problem with plastic panels is that they tend to be anchored to wood frames, and those are subject (not being pressure-treated) to dry rot. Delamination is only one symptom.

Beneath the delamination is frequently a deterioration of the structure itself. I don't know if that's an actual issue with these RVs, but it's an issue that simple delamination repair won't solve...

Rusty,

Mine is an aluminum frame. What happened with me is, it seems that Forest River didn't get my top curb side corner on the front secured well at the point the nose, side and roof meet. The camper was left at a friends in Georgia as we saw no need to tow it back to Ohio and then back down there again within two months.

When I got back down to it I had brown liquid coming out around the storage comp door below that point. Narrowed the leak down to the seam up top. Luckily no staining or water inside but the side has a bulge in it.

Right now it seems more aesthetic than anything but time will tell.
