So while I was searching Ebay I found a company that does the D/A conversion on the burbs. It has a factory look and is really clean. From the Ebay page it looks really pricey though.

If I was paying upwards of $50K for that combo, I'd want the LLY. I believe this outfit is using the LB7.

Their conversions are probably more dictated by whats available at their salvage yard rather than whether its a LB7 or LLY.
Besides a LB7 is still not a bad engine,some would say as good as the LLY cause the power boxes are more refined, for now anyway.
Still think GM is stupid for not offering a D-Max Burb,they are too busy trying to rescue the Cadillac line at the expense of others.

Ok, not enough information to do it yourself. But a good read if you are considering it.

I also remember in one of the four wheel drive magazines an article awhile back about someone (could have been the same person) that was doing conversions. Have to see if I can find that article.

I'm a little surprised that GM hasn't bothered to do it. I think that the interest would be there if they would just build them.

I would like to see it offered also, but with the price of fuel, the improvement of the gas engines, and the poor sales of diesel Excursions, I can understand GM's thinking.

Gm is slowly coming around to adding the D-Max to other vehicles. It looks like they will be adding it to the Express and Savana next year.

I agree that the gas engines are getting better but when I think about getting 20-21 mpg (hwy) in my Yukon and when towing approx 7000 lbs and still get just over 16mpg (3.42 axle ratio) I think I'll stick with the diesel. My 97 4dr gas Tahoe barely got 16 mpg on the hwy and when towing 10-12. I'm a family guy and the idea of two rows of comfortable seating is a must and at the time the extended cab truck just couldn't do it for me. I am starting to look at the crew cabs now (used more than likely) but it will be diesel. :D

Yeah,I just read yeaterday in truck trend about the duramax going into GM vans,thats always a good thing.Also good is the suburban is slated to get the duramax in 2007,I bet they sell quicker than they can be made.I wil wait till I can find one with 140,000 miles on it for about $18,000.
