have a 1999 gmc 2500 6.5 Turbo, are there and precautionary measures while changing glow plugs, is it as easy to just unscrew them and screw the new ones in, would there be any pressure if a cylinder is on a powerstroke? any links to info or instructions would be appreciated

I don't know about on a 99, but i recently replaced the glow plugs on my 94 and jsut screwed the old ones out and put the new ones right in. I haven't had any problems.

Pretty similar to replacing the spark plugs on a gasser. A couple points, though:

The ones on the driver's side are pretty straightforward. The passenger side gets a bit more complex. Go in from the wheelwell (take the wheel off) and from underneath to get the middle and back ones.

Some of the older glow plugs can swell when the go bad. If you encounter resistance in pulling them out once they are unscrewed, this could be the issue. There are some posts on here that go into more detail on extracting such a plug.
