The idea is more for fuel mileage rather than brute power, but is a hy-35 worth putting on to get rid of the GM-X turbo. I think the Hy would be better than the Hx because of the boost characteristics of the Hy, it comes in sooner.

anyone running this???

I dunno... But, in terms of turbocharging and fuel economy, it might be a good idea to look at drive pressure.

A couple of examples....

1- The factory 6.5 will develop something on the order of 2-3 psi boost pressure at a 65-mph cruise. In a 3.42 geared truck, this might allow for 18-20-mpg if everything went in the owner's favor for fuel economy.

2- The non-wastegated 6.2L Banks Sidewinder would develop about 1-psi at a 65-mph cruise. In a 3.42 geared truck, this would allow for up to 24-mpg at 65-mph (first-hand experience).

So, I'd guess the turbine drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was lower for the Banks turbo. If this theory holds true, a larger turbine and slower responding turbo should help to improve light load fuel economy.

Just a thought.... :)

so an aurora 3000 from ATS diesel wouldn't be a bad idea then???

The Aurora 2000 might be a better fit, but I'd want to limit max boost pressure for a 21.3:1 CR 6.5 to something below 15-psi. There's a thread in the 6.2/6.5 tech forum that helps to illustrate what happens to effective CR when increasing boost pressure.
