My suburban recently started making a new noise. Its a rather loud and deep roar that starts just over 50 mph and quits just over 60. It seems to come from everywhere, I cannot determine where its coming from. I do not feel any vibration in the steering, shifter or transfer case shifter. It is not related to engine speed as I can downshift and there are no changes until it gets out of its range. Does not seem to matter what kind of pavement I'm on either.
Wheel bearing? Pinion bearing? Where do I look?
Thanks!

I had about the same problem. Replaced right front axle bearing and the noise was gone...
Jack the truck up and check the front wheel bearings.
These can make horiffic noises and still go.
The pinion bearing can also make a lot of noise but they dont go away at speed.
Get it on jack stands and run it and see if its the rear, if not then check the front.
Good luck

I just had the exact same thing happen at the same speed on my K1500. It sounded like I had snow tires on from 50 to 60 mph. When I jacked up the front and checked the front wheels, the FR wobbled like mad.
When I checked with the dealer, they only sell the hub with the rotor as an assembly(around $800.00 +tax). I ordered the hub from Car Quest and had them press on the new studs using my old rotor. After regrinding my rotor the total cost was $480.00 w/tax.
If you have an 8 lug hub you might have to order it for a K2500 or you will get a 6 lug hub.
Let us know what you found.

Thanks everyone, you nailed it! I just got back in the house from replacing the left front wheel bearings. It did take three trips to Autozone to get the right bearings. They tried to sell me a hub/bearing assy. I kept telling them they did not change body styles on suburbans until 91-92. When I took the hub in to show them what I needed they told me that I did not have a 90 model........Geez, Well at least I've got it fixed now. I really appreciate all the help. It made this repair much easier.
