Tailgate Cables

The 2008 GMC and Chevrolet tailgates seem to have a problem with cable length. The tailgate is not level with the bed, it is raised just enough that my BedSlide has a hard time clearing the tailgate. This problem appears to been reported on the 2007 also and GM does not seem to deal with it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to obtain cables one inch longer?

The cables used in the recall for the unsealed cable ends (mine was a 2002) work nicely.

The 2007 I have now is fine. I have a friend who has used the recall replacement cables.

Are the hinged metal straps still available for replacement of the cable straps?? I have a set on my 04 that work very, very good... bob...........

Bob, good question on availability of the VR-Straps ..
