These photos were taken back in 1994..... a 1/4 scale Piper Super Cub. I still have it.

Here's another photo taken the same day. 9' wing span with working flaps. This Cub has hundreds of flights on it, on both floats and wheels.

Very nice, Jim.

I have a 1/4 scale Cub (non Super). I've thought about floats, but it's only flown off wheels. Yours looks nicely scale. Mine's classic Cub yellow w/ fabric covering, black trim, and even has an N number (actual full scale Cub # owned by a friend). Probably the best scale flying plane I have. What's under the cowl? I have a Saito twin that makes it fly very close to scale (much underpowered for a model), and with straight pipes, it sounds like the full scale plane. Sorry, can't find the pics (no digitals yet). Thanks for sharing. Beautiful plane.

The Cub has an Enya 120 (1.2 cubic inch) 4-cycle single cylinder. At the time, there wasn't a suitable 4-cycle twin that would fit within the cowl. The Enya develops more power than this plane needs, so it's flown at a lower power setting most of the time to appear more scale-like. The plane weighs 16 pounds on wheels and 18 pounds on floats. The wing has working flaps that do benefit slow flight. The flaps are set at about 10 degrees in the top photo.

Like your Cub, the color and trim details of this plane duplicated a pristine full-size Super I photographed at a local airport. In this case the F/S had just gone through a complete restoration.
