I just had my 2007.5 taken it to have the initial drain of rear diff, transfer case and tranny fluids. 4500 miles....When they were ready to bring it back to me they noticed a big puddle and found out the transfer case was cracked. Service mgr. said GM is aware of this issue and is sending out an entire new TC next week. GM was very quick to respond and I am pleased that it happened in the shop instead of on the road like in another thread.

Anyone else heard of this on these new trucks?

This bulletin involves all 2007 & 2008 Trucks...From Avalanche, 1500, 2500, Gas and Diesel
On mine there was no leak until they took out the plug drained and replaced the plug.....then it leaked all over the shop floor.

Keep an eye out for this.

Hmmmmm.... Was this a peculiar coincidence or what? Not that I believe in coincidence.... The plugs are torque spec'ed to 15 lb-ft.

This is what I was told by the SM. I took it in for its first fluid change of its short life. The crack must have gone right through to the drain hole.
