we have an 01 3/4 ton with the 6.6 last spring we had the fuel filter head replaced.

we have had trouble with it lately when you start it, it runs for a minute then stalls. as soon as you get out and prime it it runs fine.

Went to do that yesterday and notice diesel on the top of the fuel filter head.

looked like it was coming out of the bleed screw. when I touched the bleed screw the head of the screw fell off in my hand. The dang thing is PLASTIC!

So I called a few dealerships around here and they don't sell just the screw itself you have to buy the whole fuel filter head which is 1000$.

IS there any other solution that might work. maybe a regular bolt or a smaller bolt with a peice of inner tube or something to seal it?

the rst of the fuel filter head seems fine so it seems like such a waste to replace it again just fort he screw.

any help woudl be appreciated.
thanks!

www.lubricationspecialist.com has a stainless steel replacement screw and a bleeder kit available. The kit is an adapter, valve, and tubing. Very nice when it comes to keeping the fuel off the top of the filter assy. The bleeder screw threads are unique (non standard), so an "off the shelf" screw won't help.

In the future, be very careful when tightening it. It is O-ring sealed, so it needs to be little more than finger tight.

I had the fuel filter housing bleed screw break off also. I called four Chev and GMC dealers. The fourth dealer had
the bleeder screw. I bought two of them. Keep calling the
dealers. Good luck
