32,000 miles this year delivering boats with the 2004 Kodiak purchased in May.

One set of FREE warranty injectors, four oil changes, one tranny flush/fill, one rear gear oil change, three fuel filters and three air filters. No other mechanical issues running 85% loaded miles and average loads of 14K#. Fuel average slightly over 9mpg.

Overall, very pleased with the truck - could use 'another gear' to reduce RPMs at cruise. Could use $2.00 diesel fuel. (Not holding my breath on the latter...)

That's a lot of seat time... :D Would the 6th gear help, or is it recommended for the 4500's GCVWR?

Haven't seen the Allison 6spd in the newer 4500s either, you're probably right about the GCVWR. However, some taller drive rubber may still be in the future, although the Michelins only appear to be 50% gone at 52K miles! Regearing is simply too expensive.

Anything to stretch mileage, reduce RPMs at cruise speeds, especially when unloaded. Maybe I could do the electronic '6spd trick' discussed elsewhere in the forums to the Allison 1000, using it only for unloaded highway driving...hmmm...
