Okay, I am hoping someone here can give me some advice. I had a guy contact me about getting him parts for his Safari/Astro van. He has done a 350 conversion into it, and promptly wrecked the stock 7.5" rearend. He wants a 8.5" truck positraction rearend and also a T-case and front axle as he wants to make it 4X4. The rearend isn't a problem as I know what to get. But the T-Case and front axle I am not sure about. I was thinking a T-case from a Blazer/Jimmy would probably work best, but he may need to swap to a different tranny, unless the tailpiece can be swapped out. For the front axle I was thinking a D44. I have seen 4WD conversions before and am hoping someone has done one and can give me some tips here.

What trans is in the van? When you pick out the transfer case make sure to get the matching drop with the front axle. D44 is a great frontend and should give a great service life if maintained correctly.
