tuesday morning 6:30am went out to inflate back tires to go to work (all 4 tires have punctures but since I'm fitting 4 new ones anyway i lived with inflating the tires for a couple of days).
Moved from the back tire on passenger side to front tire on passenger side and the QD must've caught on something and released itself.
Result---- Coilcord airline and male end of QD flying through the air at approaching mach2 taking out the tailgate glass.
Now to the point. Anyone fitted the glass to the sash or know how to do it without breaking another window.
the military manual quotes "dry cleaning fluid and red tape" I think the tape sticks the glass to the filler.
As you can imagine the cost of the window is extortionate over here £160 new or £45 from a salvage yard. ($340 new or $90 used) The one I got from the salvage yard came out without having to unbolt anything as the tailgate was basically rust held in place with the remnants of the military green paint. (the salvage yard deals in ex military equipment and had dozens of M1008 and M1009 cucv's lying around. there's only a couple of dozen or so left and only a couple of whole tailgate windows, all with rusted out sashes.
