Hello All,

It's been awhile since I posted. I have a question for those of you that may have experience. My 97 now has 192K miles on the original pump. I have had to replace the PMD once. I remote mounted the PMD when I put in the new motor at 132K. Anyway, the truck seems to be running flat these days. Like a gasser with the timing a bit retarded. So the question is how do you know when the pump has started to give up. I guess I could have someone pull a pressure test at the injectors? Just curious if anyone has been at this point before. I have had a couple 5288 pumps on the shelf for a couple of years.

have you checked the lift pump for proper operation?

Lift pump is running fine and fuel filter changed in the last 1500 miles.

If you also have original injectors (or high mileage replacements), don't bother testing them. 192K is well past a reasonable service period. Despite whatever else you may find, just replace them. You may find some power you haven't seen in a long time.

You have the gear drive, where did you set the timing?

Injectors were replaced when I went through the motor. The TDCO on this motor was set to the obligatory -1.94 right after I put in the Heath Computer. Haven't had a Tech II back on it for about 40K miles.

Thanks
