Turbo upgrade?

I have the original turbo on my '93 6.5TD dually with the Turbomaster mechanical boost controller. If I am already getting the max boost I want from my current setup, what advantage is there for me to change my turbo to a newer one such as a GM8?

One Reason, though the GM-8 is only somewhat better, is less exhaust restriction quicker spool up times and better throttle response.
