Way cool! What sort of fuel economy do you get (local driving & trip)?

Thanks for posting the pics. :)

Hi Jim, I know the guy really well where she came from and he told me it does about 30mpg on a run and about 25 round town.

Ive done about 170 miles now on just over 1/4 of a tank.

It still has its four speed auto which helps.

Need pictures of the engine bay!

Stupid question, but is this a retrofit or did they actually come stock that way 'cross the pond?

Hi, I'll sort that out over the weekend for ya. I was going to put some pics up of the motor as I would like to try to find out how old it is and which type. Am I right in thinking they did a few diffrent models of the 6.2?

It is a retrofit as thew 5.7DX died at some point and the chap thought it would be better just to fit the 6.2 in.

Only the A/C and cruise was lost in the swap. I don't mind about the A/C as it don't get that hot here in the U.K but I do miss the cruise.

Pretty clean little install there!

You should be able to retrofit cruise back into the little beast.

Very nice!

How are the cold starts? I can see that you don't have a high-idle function (no wire going to the high idle solenoid), and I can't see if if you have a HPCA (cold timing advance) wire hooked up or not.

Nice vehicle ya got there. 30mpg for a big "boat" is really good.

Too bad we didn't have a small v6 diesel in a current Chevy Impala, it could probably get 40+ mpg.

Way back when I had a 1980 Olds Cutlass diesel, it would get 26 to 28 mpg with the 3 speed auto. I really loved the ride in that car. I've been thinking about finding a clean southern model and stuffing a 6.2 into one with a 700r4 overdrive. Could probably get 30+ mpg easy.

Go on you know you want to

I would love an Olds 88 or 98 with a 6.2 in :)

Oh yeah one of those would be a good choice, too.

Oh yea! that would be cool. Just for fun add AWD, for those rough winters.

Was thinking about this the other evening - what is the transmission and rearend under that? I've seen some discussions about what will hold up to a 6.5 and doubt there is a 14-bolt swapped in under the rear of the wagon! :D
