Fixing to replace OE L/H exhaust manifold on 02 LB7 with aftermarket BD manifold. Anyone been down this road? What size 12 point socket is needed for the exhaust pipe to manifold bolts? Are these a bear to get loose? Does the steering shaft have to come out for the manifold to clear the head studs? Looks straight foward-- any watch out fors?

12 point 12 mm shallow socket and a long handled ratchet or breaker bar. The bolts are only torqued to 39 ft lbs. (pipe to manifold) but the surface rust on the stainless bolts make the removal a real BEAR! Pull out the inner fender insert and disconnect the steer shaft. Oh yeah........ Have FUN!!! ;)

Anyone done this lately. Now that my truck seems to be running good I am considering doing the BD manifold and some gauges.

nor real lately but spray some pb blaster on them and hit all the heads of the bolts the best you can with drift and hammer to jar the rust and crude loose.

And perhaps a little anti-sieze on the bolt threads and under the bolt heads before re-installing them would help when/if they need to come off again... ;)
