What is your intended use? The 4WD Kodiaks are set up with only one gearset from the factory, its like a 5.33 or something close to that and limits your highway speed to around 55-60 mph at 2000rpm.

I have been told they are a beast in the snow, and would love to plow with one, but the gearing cripples them for road/hauling use as my C4500 with 4.88 (?) gearing is really too low to be fuel efficient.

Thanks for your help,I am a full time FireFighter and part time landscaper,I have always wanted one of these or a ctx,Its mainly a toy but will use it to pull a dump trailer when I do landscape work.and run up to PA for hunting and quads.
I use my corolla for FD.

Sounds like it might be perfect for your use. I'd try to demo one for a day or two before purchasing, if possible. The ride and general fit-and-finish is different than the light duty lineup and some people develop buyers remorse after purchasing and the first trips. The ride is harsh at best!

I really like my C4500 - it does what it was intended to do, well.

Thanks for the info,The stealer by me has a pick up bed and a flat bed in stock.but I have been watching E bay to see whats out there.
The way the economy is and 5.00 diesel I should be able to find one used.

I bought my 2004 C4500 in June of 2007 for half of the cost of a new, equipped truck. 20K miles at that time.

When dealers put a trade value on my truck, they have been incredibly low. So low it says they aren't 'buying back' their own product. That means they are going cheap on the used market.

I will keep watching the used market. The truck I was looking at on E bay had 22s on it,that should help with highway mileage.are there any engine changes in the 4x4 years?
I wonder what the future will bring with this model being bought out.
