trying to fix a short in the steering column for the headlights,some how I activated the security light, truck wont stay running. How do I reset the computer?

Assuming you haven't destroyed anything and no remote start:

Turn key to start position. Engine cranks, fires, then release key and engine dies.

Leave key in run position (don't roll back to off) for 10 minutes.

Turn key off for 30 seconds.

Repeat process a total of 3 sequences. If still no go you have other issues.

There's a short pigtail coming off the outside of the ignition key's cylinder lock assembly. If it became unplugged or if a wire was damaged, you'll get the security lamp.
