On my 6.2 n.a. van, the starter housing broke. I am thinking of welding it with high nickel rod. Here is a picture and a photobucket link for a larger picture.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Bevel and weld. You can also come perpendicular with a couple small cones and fill them in as well. Possibly fab an extra support bracket. I am assuming it broke because one or more bolts were loose?

I don't know why it broke, I suppose one was loose but the other wasn't.
