Where is the cheapest place to get this manifold? It is for a '98 6.5td.

I need one soon.

Thanks

Joe

Probably one of the online GM parts stores.... But, be sure to find out what their shipping cost is before making a final comparison in total cost to your local dealer.

Thanks, Jim. GMpartsdirect has it for 104.xx but I don't yet know the shipping price -waiting on email from them.

RockAuto has it for $124 if this is the part you mean: thermostat housing (http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartImage.jsp?mfgname=ACDELCO&prodlinecd=15&acpartnbr=15-80782)

You know, I just called RockAuto and they said they didn't carry it but I would have sworn that I saw it there in an earlier search of their site.

I did find a used on at a junk yard for $50.00 but it is from a '95. I wonder if it will fit my 98?

Thanks for your help.

Joe

The 95 will fit, but is a downgrade. It is only a single stat housing.

95 is not the same, it's a single thermostat. Duals started in either 96 or 97.

I updated my 95 and bought all the hardware from Team Chevrolet in Scottsbluff NE - just used a 97 model for part numbers. They shipped free if the price of parts was high enough, that may have changed with the cost of fuel, but they beat GMpartsdirect by a bunch.

The 95 might be a duel thermostat if it had been upgraded.

I ordered all my parts for the cooling system upgrade from my local ACDelco distributor. It was cheaper than any online place (no shipping charges). The company I work for (Raytheon) does have an account with my local ACDelco distributor, so I was able to use their discount, which may account the price difference. Just go to acdelco.com and look up the parts for a 1996 with the dual thermostats, print the list out, and call your local distributor. Can't hurt.
