With this month's update, we've begun a new diagnostic & troubleshooting series here at The Diesel Page. We've covered some of the most common Diagnostic Trouble Codes before, but over the next several months, this series will eventually cover all diesel-related DTC's for both the 6.5L & Duramax diesels. This month, we'll cover thirty-seven DTC's that relate to the 6.5TD and Duramax APP module.

Duramax Diesel
Accelerator Pedal Position Tech & Troubleshooting

TThe 2001 model-year and newer GM Duramax diesels were all equipped with the "drive-by-wire" Bosch high-pressure common-rail electronic fuel injection system. While the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) module has performed reliably through the years, the first Duramax equipped trucks are now more than 8 years old, and knowing how the APP operates and how to troubleshoot a problem could be a huge help in the future. Thirteen diagnostic trouble codes are discussed, and we'll walk you through the troubleshooting process. 6.5L Turbo Diesel
Accelerator Pedal Position Tech & Troubleshooting

Beginning in the 1994 model-year, the GM 6.5L diesels began using the "drive-by-wire" Stanadyne DS4 electronic fuel injection system. While it may appear to be a problematic engine control system component, the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) module has performed reliably through the years. However, the first electronic 6.5 is now more than 14 years old, and knowing how the APP operates and how to troubleshoot a problem could save you a ton of money. Twenty-four diagnostic trouble codes for the OBD I & II systems are discussed, and we'll walk you through the troubleshooting process.
