Lift kit issues

Hi,

So my truck is finally running great. I love it. After dropping in a rebuilt engine and getting the boost fooler and doing the PMD relocate it's just all dialed in and feeling good.

So of course I have to change something.

I'm moving back to Canada and want to import my truck. My procomp 6" lift kit is legal to install there, but counts as a vehicle modification. Modified vehicles, even if they are legal to drive in BC, are not importable into Canada.

So I need to find a way to take my lift kit off. I called the shop that installed it for the previous owner (4 wheel parts in Seattle) and they don't want anything to do with taking it off. You need to cut the pockets off the upper control arms to put the kit on, so something either needs to be welded back on or the upper control arms replaced. Both beyond the skill of 4 wheel parts, apparently.

Beyond my skill also, unfortunately.

Other than "sell the truck" does anyone have any suggestions in the Seattle area?

i at one point brought in a lifted truck to alberta, but it was a 1976 dodge military m880 4" suspension lift, and they didnt care, anyone know how many years and they dont care?

I do the inspections on vehicals for the RIV which is the registrar of imported vehicles.
I don't think that having a lift kit on it maters.I read one of the brochures they left with me at the last inspection of my shop,it dosn't mention anything about aftermarket modifications.

Who told you that the lift would have to be removed?

Wow, I wish I could come have you inspect it! I'm primarily going off of the data on the website. At http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/Section2_0.htm it says:

"All vehicles that have undergone any alteration other than typical repair are inadmissible."

And that is elaborated on in the explanations section at http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/Explanations.htm

"3. Vehicles that have been modified from their original state, other than regular maintenance, may not be eligible for importation into Canada. For example, a van transformed into a motor home (often known as class B motor home), a van equipped with raised roof and/or modified interior, a pick-up or a passenger car equipped with lift kit, etc."

I'm taking some pictures of the truck up with me when I move tomorrow and I'll try to find an inspector in Victoria that can help clarify... (well, which really means I'll keep going around asking until someone tells me it's not a problem, I think.)
