I got in the truck to leave work today, and no sound from the radio! Then I realized that the door buzzer for the key-in didn't sound. I have been thru the fuses, harness connections, etc. The radio screen functions fine and the headphones for the rear entertainment system (not a DVD system)work fine too (nice audio for radio, CD, etc)!

But no speakers for any of it, not even Onstar.

HELP, PEASE

Mike

P.S. it's a stock Delco system, not the Bose top of line.

Try disconnecting the batteries for an hour. Resetting the BCM may help.

Left the batteries disconnected for about 3 hours, no change. Maybe the amp is gonzo? If anyone else can help, I would love to hear ideas!

Sounds like it could be the amp, if it's separate from the radio. Otherwise, could be the radio head itself. I'd start by checking the connections, including the connection at the rear of the radio. It is very easy to access. Once the dash trim is popped off, it's easy to see how it's held in place. Slide it out and check the connection. You can also check continuity of the speaker harness (although I doubt that's the problem, since all the speakers don't work). A wiring diagram would help you immensely.

I have now checked the harness connections at the radio head unit and at the seperate amp (inside the console). Still no change. I am suspicious of the amp, although a little confused as to why the sound is good thru the headphones.

Any ideas on where to get the wiring diagram?

The GM factory service manuals contain wiring diagrams and are available on-line with a subscription at http://www.alldatadiy.com/ .. You can also buy the hard copy from http://www.helminc.com/

Thanks for the help there, I will try that next. I also realized a friend has the nearly identical truck, gonna see if I can try his amp as a test, assuming it doesn't have to be unlocked.

Don't know what did it, but yesterday, while listening to music thru the headphone jacks in back, I turned the front (head unit) off for a while and then back on and voila! All normal functions have returned. Don't know if it was somehow muted? But, as long as it lasts, I'll enjoy it.

Thanks to all of you for the advice.
