I have done due diligence in searching for a CHEAP hardware/software combination to set the timing on my '98 Chevy 6.5td.

None cheap to be found, at least from my searches.

Does anyone know of any?

I cannot fathom why it would be so hard to do this. Sure, you may have to temporarily turn off the data from the ecu to the pump but..................?

Thanks,

Joe

I haven't done so, but when I was researching my purchase of carcode that was one of the things I made sure it was supposed to be able to do. It was pretty cheap, $100 bucks or so.

It has a really bad user interface, but seems to function pretty well.

From the features list...
"GM L65 6.5L Diesel updated with device control includes boost control, timing set, glow plug learn, power distribution"

Thanks, Derek.

I will go there and check it out. Seems like I was there before but didn't notice that it set timing.

If push comes to shove, all you really need is the ability to read the value (TDC Offset.) Youy can force a re-learn with a key-on-key-off sequence.
