Towing a Tahoe

All,
Hoping to get another motorhome soon, they're on sale...
Can I tow my 97 Tahoe either on a tow-dolly (frontwards or backwards) or four wheels down?
I was told if my transmission is in N and the XFER case is in N that I can tow on a dolly or even possibly four wheels down.
Any experience here appreciated.

Yes, you can tow a 4wd Tahoe, either forward on a dolly, or 4 wheels down. The transfer case MUST be in neutral, or the rear drive shaft disconnected at the rear end. Placing the gear selector in N WILL NOT place the transfer case in N. You have a procedure described in your owner manual on how to get it in neutral (a few simple steps with the buttons). Once in neutral, tow with the tranny selector in P.
