View Full Version : T V cable adjustment on 700R4 Transmission
Well I am strill trying to adjust the TV cable. The problem is with the cable adjust tab (D shaped one).
As show here: http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Instructions/instructions/gm_tv_cable_adjust.htm
I keep reading that I need to push it.
Well I push and push, but nothing happens. In fact that spot looks like it is merely molded into the whole plastic assembly
Any ideas what to do?
Thanks.
I ran into a similar issue on my 82 - the 'button' was actually on the bottom so it was hard to find at first, and hard to push for that matter...
You might check to see if it's hiding.
Joe.
Yes, the button is opposite the large molded part.
Press in on the litle button, slide the ratchet assembly to the rear as far as it will go and then release the button.
Now with all of the cables hooked to the IP, gently press the throttle pedal to the floor and mat it out.
This will properly set the cable adjustment.
The test is to take the rig for a spin. under very light throttle on a level road, just as soon as the 1-2 shift occurs, mat the throttle and it should shift back to 1st if everything is ok in the tranny.
Best

I released the entire assembly and look it all over. It seems the whole thing is one solid piece.
Maybe I should get a picture.

I tried to push it. It won't move, but after putting a lot of pressure on it, it will wiggle around a tad bit.
Is that button suppose to be flush or inset like that?
I finally got it adjusted.
While it is shifting, I guess it's time to take it to the shop.
While it shifts a LOT better now, but I am getting back flow problem when the vehicle sits for a day. Thus it takes a while to get fluid back into the TC before shifting gets good.
In addition it will not down shift when accelerator is depresses to the foor, and still having problems with speedo not working.
