I have an annoying clunk coming from the left front wheel area. The only thing I find that could be it is the brake caliper - it is a bit loose on the retention bolt/sleeve.

The clunk is more noticeable at lower speeds and instantly goes away with the slightest touch of the brakes. The thing is, that even though the caliper does not have a lot of travel on the loose sleeve, but the clunk is very apparent and noticeable.

Could be a wheel bearing

I thought of that as I have had issues with that hub, having replaced it a couple of times. I jacked up the front and checked if there was any slop in the wheel. I did not notice any at all

I have had this very same thing on the DaHooooley
The caliper mounting sleave has likely come loose.

Remove the caliper and check all the hardware. You will likely find that the Bushing has either worn out or fell out and this gives the caliper enough room to wobble around.
It can't cause a catastrophic issue but it sure is annoying.

The bushings go though the caliper and the steel sleave and bolt then go though the bushing and fasten to the anchor.

The bushings are a rubber material and do wear but for some reason like to wiggle out.

Let us know

That is what I figured. Somehow the top bolt backed out and fell out. The allen head portion was stripped and I had tightened it with vise-grips. Apparently not enough. That really makes a racket, so I realized it right away. Even now, though, I can wiggle the caliper around by hand. Is there a bushing available for this?

If you get the bolt and bushing kit you will get two new rubber bushings as well as the allen head bolt/sleave assemblies.

Clean out the caliper holes and use some silicone spray to lube the rubber up and push the new bushing into the caliper.
Replace the caliper on the anchor and tighten the new bolts in place.

Good to go without the rattle. :)
