The 1970 '010' castings were the best of the pre-88 GM smallblocks, IMO. Years ago, we took a ~80K mile '010' engine block out of my deceased aunt's rusted out four-door '70 Malibu into the machine shop to have it inspected and prepped for a racing application build-up. They gave it back after just a basic clean and cylinder hone, saying there was "zero core shift" and no need to align bore, deck, etc. The guy shook his head and said, "...if you find any more like this one, buy them and bring them to me!"

If you are lucky enough to come across an original '010' casting 350/350 - still bolted to its 4-speed - and wrapped in a low-slung fiberglass body...well...all the better!

If times were different, I'd snap this one up for the asking price, install all the suspension/brake upgrades available from www.vettebrakes.com (http://www.vettebrakes.com) , powdercoating all undercarriage parts to finish off the 'frame on' restoration...and then drive the snot out of it! :D
