Well the 92 Burb is gone and in its place is an 87 Burb with a 6.2
Pretty well all stock through and through, but, we dont really need another Burb.

Today a ran across an 87 Blazer with a 5.7 gasser in it. :(
What a deal too.

My plan is to swap the diesel and all its gear into the Blazer including the wiring and such.

Has anyone here swapped out the complete harness and such from a diesel to a gasser.

I have done wiring harness swaps on a Dodge Ramcharger a few years back to allow for a different engine and AC in a truck that did not have it.

The Burb is complete and most all the electrical stuff works fine.
Would be nice to have the Blazer have all the factory lights, gauges and such that were in the diesel.

Should be a easy swap overall.

Any input would be cool.

Just gotta replace the Exploder before it starts costing $$$$$$$$$$$

I think it would be fairly straight forward swap as both same year , BUT, what would be gain, besides cool swap ? You are going to tie up both veichles for a while ( couple weeks at least) I think the 5.7 gasser is probably the most reliable engine around and there is a LOT of stuff available for the 5.7 / 350 and a performance Blazer would be fun to drive. The 4 doors of the Burb are an advantage for groceries and daily driver. Not to rain on the parade. I like a challeange as much as the next (see signature )lol

Hi
I have done it on a Toyota p/u.I got a steal of a deal on a rolled 4x4,all i could find was a cab of a 2wd diesel.Seeing how the cabs neede to be changed i put both on the floor of the garage side by side.I totaly striped the good cab the started transfering the wireing. In this case i had to change the stearing colum heater and gauges as well.Took me a total of 7 hrs to strip both cabs and reinstall everything in the good cab.All mounting holes, tabs and brackets were the same.I did have to build new mounts on the rad suport to mount it on the 4x4 frame.I took my time making sure all was installed corectly and fixed a few spots where PO's had butured the wires for tapedeck driving lights ect.Drove the truck for 10 yrs with no electrical issues.Probly could fire it up now but the head is just sitting on the block
I think that the chev wiring would be easyer to change.the toy system was one peice for the whole cab, where chev has a few conections, inside the cab, engine bay,and rear of truck, lights tank ect
I have a 90 crew that started with a gasser,it has the comp. Some day i plan on putting a cummins in it so i plan on changing the harness to hopefully a diesel one,if not i'll use a older gas one to eliminate all computer related wires.I have dozens of older carb type doners for this.Only one diesel doner and it has A/C which wouln't find it's way into the truck,so i don't know if has a lot of wires which wouln't be used.
Anyhow a long story short,if you have a good harness i would quess for you it would be a plesent days job:D
Happy New Year

The 350 being a great engine is a Gas Hog compared to the little 6.2.
The 87 Blazer has a basic electronic controled engine :(

The diesel will get probably 24 MPG Hwy and the 350 possibly 14-15 Maybe

The need for a 4 door frocery getter is filled already with the 94 Burb we have.
Most of our grocery shopping goes into the back seat on the Exploder now.
Easily sit the stuff in behind the RH seat on the Blazer.

As far as performance goes I still have a Banks turbo setup Lurking in the shop.

Scored bigtime today

Found a lovely 91 Burb 1500 4x4 with a gasser in it and a fresh tranny to use as my build truck.

This truck is straight as a pin, drives like a new one and the interior is "As New"

I will get the plan together now and swap the 6.2 into this little jewel.
Truck has all the options including rear air and rear heat. And it all works too.

Got a very nice complete Banks system with the exhaust and Gauges to go in the little creature.

The 700R (Not my favorite) was just gone through to the tune of $1600 less than a year ago.

I will need use the fresh diesel radiator from the 87 I have along with the Hydroboost and other goodies.

Very very happy with this rig.

May take a little tweeking to get all the goodies working right.

The sound insulator on the 87 is like new and unadulterated.
Traded a 50 Amp plasma cutter for the beast. Yessssssssssss :D:D:D

Great find! Not many Burbs of that vintage in that nice of condition. I like the updated grilles GM used in that body style as well.

A fuel-sipping 6.2 would make a nice addition.;)

Took a little time today and swapped the WARN hubs off the 87 onto the 91 in place of the automatic ones that came from the factory
Got to get a ripping on the 87 and get all the power train yanked out.

yes for sure, findint one thats real clean is very tough.

usually they are all roached and used up.

Gonna get the little 6.2 all built up and ready and then tear into the 91.

Robyn,
When you get a chance, in your spare time, I need you to come over to Carolina and help me out with a few of my projects. It obviously looks like you need something to do:). I'm still trying to find some time to slap on some new head gaskets, then install my turbo. Always a distraction popping up.

Well with the current economy I am probably not going to be traveling much beyond my backyard. :(

I fully understand about those "popups"

Trying hard here to get a rig together that will replace the Explorer.

Back to a simpler time when a hammer and a couple screw drivers would just about fix anything. :)

Me something to doooooooooooooooo ?!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I had to unload over 5000 Lbs of Hazelnut shells into drums and pack them into the basement. Oh yeah I need more to do alright:D

We heat the house with these (Run them though the pellet stove)

Cost me $50 at the shelling plant for the 5K load of the stuff.

With wood pellets at $200 Plus a ton now and supplies at the whims of the sellers I love this stuff.

Takes a little more fussing with the stove (cleaning more often) but it heats real well.

We heated our other house (in town) for about $60 a year with this stuff.

The house here at the ranch is 2400 Sq ft on the main floor and to heat it with wood pellets costs about $600 for the winter season at current prices.

The house has forced air electric heat and I don't even want to think what that would cost to use. Our electric bill is about $300 a month anyway.

How do those Hazel nut shells do for pollishing brass?

Sweet 'burb! Looks like an aweseome find and a great project.

You definitely need to put some larger tires on that beast! :D

My folks have a pellet stove and really like it. They haven't used their furnace in years. In fact, it broke down and dad never got around to fixing it.

The nut shells work great to pollish brass.

yess the tires and wheels are crap and just "Black and round"

I have some 33's in good shape on the 87 that will get bolted on soon.

I have to keep in mind though that folks other than me that are not 6 foot tall may want to get into the truck. Needs to stay close to the dirt.:(

My idea is a 6 inch plus lift and some 36" tires
