Does the 2500 have hydroboost brakes? If so this would be one thing less to worry about.

What year model 6.2L engine have you found?

Any year will work, you'll just need a few components.

If an early 6.2 is used (82-87) it will have v-belt accessories, the later used serpentine, unless it was from a burb or blazer (still v-belt).

The exhaust manifolds for a n/a 6.2 will be needed for your chassis year, as the 6.2 engine was an option for that year, but perhaps not, I've not studied many 6.2's in that year of chassis (they didn't make many at all).

For radiator and fan shroud, you can get one off any year 6.5TD, as it will also fit your chassis, the radiator would best come out of a 88-93 though, but the later radiator could be used if you got the coolant recover tank, lower radiator hose to go with it (it doesn't have a fill neck on the radiator).

The transmission will work, just swap out for the diesel torque conveter (will be marked with a code 6), and a diesel governor in the trans, a very easy swap!

btw, the engine mounts are the same for 6.2 and gas guzzlers, but best replacing them with diesel appliction while you're swapping engines.

The rest is wiring, which is simple on a 6.2, most gauge senders will work, etc. Just make your own glow plug circuit, just has to have an ignition source to energize and a 10ga lug to the battery on the load side of the solenoid.

End of story, sure doable.

Feel free to seach the forums and conversion forum for tips and info about these engines!
