I was on the stanadyne web site and saw the ds series pumps. looks like what is on my truck. It is rated at 25 bhp per cylinder. 8 cylinder is 200 horespower. Could this be one of the bigest negative factors on performance? To me it would seem that if you cant flow but x amount of fuel threw the inside of the pump then it wouldn't matter how well the injectors flowed. Bottom end power would increase with injectors but top end would only be noticable on a dyno. I would like to hear everyones thoughts.

This is a general answer, but for fuel rates greater than the DB2 can deliver, the DB4 pump is used, with 4 pumping pistons instead of 2. That pump looks very similar from the outside.

I don't know off the top of my head what the max HP per cylinder is with the DB4, though, but it would be in excess of 300HP.

That rating must be based on a very conservative estimate of the air-fuel ratio or volumetric efficiency or some other parameter. My measured power of 223 hp at the wheels with a DS4 works out to 27.875 hp per cylinder...

Go to the website and look up pumps. It pulls up pictures and specs.
