Trans Problem

GUYS I NEED HELP. i have a trans problem with a 1994 gmc 1 ton 6.5 auto 4x4.it seams to be stuck in 2 gear it is not slipping rev works fine.any help would be great:confused:

This sounds like the limp mode.

Pull the DTC codes and see what shows up.
Could be a faulty sensor or one of several things causing the unit to default to second gear.

The DTC codes should show something.

unhooked the power for awhile and all good not sure why???:confused:

Had a similar problem with the trans getting stuck in 2nd gear (limp home mode). Battled it for a while disconnecting the battery each time to clear it. Finally found that the cable between the batteries had a bad connection and the truck was running on a very low voltage causing the tranny problem. A simple check is to load the electrical system (lights on, AC and what ever else) and read the voltage between the two positive battery terminals. The voltage drop should be near or at zero volts.
