radio lock code

Before I take out my GM radio/cdplayer piece of garbage, how do I get the code before removal. (just in case)

It's explained in the owner's manual. If it has never had a code set, set one, and write it down. I suggest you write it on the RPO sticker in the glove box (with a Sharpie). If you lose your glove box, I doubt you'll be worried about the radio.

If all else fails, the dealer can install it. (for a moderate fee, of course)

The security code in your '05 is the VIN of the truck, programmed in when initially set up. You can remove the radio, and reinstall it later in the same truck with no problem. The radio won't work in another truck without reprogramming. You can't do this yourself, unless you have access to GM programming methods.
