It appears from conversation with a Diesel Mechanic and correspondance with another forum member that if you move the Optical sensor in the DS4 Injection Pump that it can upset the fueling.

One member of the forum has replaced his own Optical sensor without removing the pump and has had and increase in fuel delivery and power.

Has anyone ever considered this as a viable option for more power?

What would be the Advantages/disadvantages?

I have had the discussion with the friendly folks at my favorite pump rebuild shop.

The amount of gain is not all that much and if it were me I would not mess with the optical sensor.

Its called an "Optical Bump"

It does work and it can be done without removing the IP.

A good chip in the system will give the best overall results for power and injection timing IMHO

Best

Do a google search for "optic bump 6.5 diesel" and you'll come up with some interesting reading.

I know my 6.5L is a totally different animal now. Runs like it should have from the beginning if you ask me.
