Hey guys. I've been around 6.2s for a long time. My dad bought an 85 C10 burb 6.2 brand new in 85 (of course). Drove it for about 22 years then gave it to me. I drove it for another 2 years then sold it because i was after a 4wd. Sure do miss it. About a month ago I bought an 89 K10 burb 6.2.

Previous owner claims to have installed a "new" heavy duty military 6.2 diesel in the truck about 20k miles ago. I know I know, theres no such thing as a "new" 6.2. But the guy swears up and down its new, NOT rebuilt/reman. He bought the engine from another individual. So its origin is unknown. Im guessing new old stock? I tried to find the serial number for the engine, but no luck. I was told to look on the pass side behind the head? perhaps i was looking in the wrong place. To make this engine even more of a mystery, the mechanic who installed the engine claims it has 260hp and 400 ft lbs of torque! and its NOT turbo'd! How can this be? I dunno, Im definately scratching my head. You can certainly look at it and see a few hp mods.

Tranny was rebuilt 3k miles ago. Axles rebuilt 800 miles ago. 1/2ton susp replaced with new 3/4 ton susp. new 31x10.5 bfg ats. No rust and VERY clean interior.

I love the Old "Box" style body

I recently had a 91 Burb Follow me home:D

Gotta love these classics

I really love your wheels :)

I gues it must be cause I'm a child of the 60's and 70's

Here is a pix of my 91
This creature is like new on the inside.

I love that old style dressed out interior. No other body style seems as nice to me. And that one looks to be in excellent shape. Keep it in the same or better condition, and that truck will only appreciate in value.

Something is funky with that engine. Is is a military engine? The reason I say that is because my air cleaner studs on every 6.2 I've had are inline with the centerline of the engine, where yours are perpendicular with the centerline. Must be done for clearnce in the Humvees?

With the right gears and the pump turned up a bit, these trucks are pretty strong, but 260 HP is not likely without a turbo. 160 HP is closer to the mark.

Yup, your air cleaner is definitely different from the normal set up.

Ain't no way it is 260 hp! Even with a turbo, it's only around 200 or so. I think my '83 was rated at 130ish??

I was fairly skeptical myself about the 260 hp. Maybe some day Ill have it tested to find out. Mods have definately been done to increase hp in this motor. Yeah, according to the previous owner, its a military 6.2.

I wanna lift it and put 35s or 37s under there but i think it has the stock 1.2 axles underneath. Can anyone tell me if those axles are strong enough for those size tires? I dont plan on doing any hardcore offroading in this thing. At the most, MAYBE some light trail riding. Its my dd and I wanna keep it nice, but I want it to be taller too.

Im also thinking about turbo'ing the truck and ive read that used banks kits can be found on ebay for cheap ... BUt ... i cant find any. Is there some special trick to finding these kits on ebay?

Patience! Patience! I shopped around for a year or 2 before I found the one I wanted.

Also, keep an eye out on our own classified ads: http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=34629

Stant,

Yes, your Sub looks like a nice one. I too, like the 80's body style.

We received a new classified ad (http://www.thedieselpage.com/classad.htm) this morning for another nice one.

That is one very clean suburban.. Where is that truck located? Plus if that is the true mileage then that truck was only driven a little over 3000 miles a YEAR!.

Front tag says Washington! A far cry from Carolina or else I'd go look at this weekend!
