I have just rebuilt a 6.2/6.5 6.5 btm and 6.2 heads. Problem no oil press. Primed new oil pmp with elec drill before installing eng. Installed eng. started runs good no oil press. pulled oil sending unit replace with new. Installed a mech. presss gage in turbo feed line. No oil press. Removed Vac. pmp. reprimed oil pmp with elec drill (CW rotaion on the drill) installed vac. pmp. crank eng. still no oil press. This is my first 6.2. I purchaed this engine in boxes. I matched the oil pmp to the 6.5L block casing and production date Blk# 101 h 599 Pord. date A124. With this info I purchased an oil pmp and drive shaft for a 1994 6.5. My question; could I have the wrong cam install as there were three cams in the boxes? Some how driving the oil pmp backwards??

Look at the other cams.
The pump drive gear on the back will tell the story.

Check the other two cams and then look at the one in the engine.

Are the angle of the teeth on the cams pump drive gear any different on the others.
As I mentioned in a PM to you, this stuff could have come from a marine engine.

A two engined boat can have one CW rotation and one CCW to negate the effect of the engines rotation on the handling of the boat.

A backward running engine would have a cam that will not work right.
