View Full Version : Headlight Switch Anyone Identify?

Although my 6.5 is in a motorhome, many of the parts are stock GM.

The smell of hot something alerted me to the headlight switch's burning out. The top contact heated enough to fuse the plug's plastic to the contact and to release it from the switch.

My guess is that one of the contacts wasn't making a clean connection.

The only marks are "Delco-Remy" and a partial part number, 285N15x (1, A, or 7?)

I haven't been able to locate anything like it on the 'net; any suggestions would be appreciated!

I had a 1988 with that type switch, but the rocker was horizontal, not vertical like yours. I have seen your switch on a GM dash, but don't remember which. I suggest looking at similar year GM cars and trucks (could be either), perhaps 82-90. Autozone.com carries many of them, and has pictures in their online catalog.

Try this on for size: ACDELCO Part # D1527A.
Rockauto.com from $5-20. From a Pontiac Fiero 1988.

Hope it's the right one.

found it.

Thanks, I got it ordered from the (currently-local) NAPA store: ~$32 for the Echlin....they also had the connector.
