View Full Version : 10 bolt and 12 bolt axles.
Hi folks, I'm looking for a bit of info. Are the rear axle shaft bearings on the 12bolt the same as the 10 bolt or are they totally different.
Thanks for any replies
Simon.

They are different, just enough. They look similar, but the bearing surfaces are a different size and the seal surface is a bit different (IIRC, it's been over 10 years). The side gear splines are different, as well. They are not interchangeable. When I swapped my 10 bolt for a 12 bolt, new axles were on the shopping list. They weren't too expensive, then.
Yeah thought so. Thanks for the reply. The problem I have is that suppliers over here don't know what 10 or 12 bolt axles are. I could get 10 bolt parts no probs by giving them the part Nos from the military manual but I can't do that for the 12 bolt I have fitted.
The passenger side collapsed last night returning from the stock car racing. The last 20 miles of an 85 mile journey at one in the morning were interesting to say the least.

If anyone has part Nos for the bearings and seals including the pinion seal I'd be very gratefull.
