Can anyone recommend a device to find check engine codes? I recently got an check engine light on an 08 GMC 2500 HD and had to take it into the dealer to get it cleared. The DIC didn't tell me anything. Turns out there was an issue with the exhaust system or sensor. They had to manually reset or clear the code.

I had just changed the oil with a K&N filter, the fuel filter and the transmission spin off filter. Would have been nice if I could have figured out the problem myself.

Maybe find someone with the Windows PC program EFI Live (version 8) in your area. They can scan your truck and see what the codes are.

Any idea who sells these scanners in the US? I did a search on google and it looks like they all ship from China.

If you look at the bottom of the article, you will see that Kennedy sells the equipment.
