Question about towing mirrors on 07 to 08

Does anyone know if the OEM towing mirrors that were on the 06 and 07 classics the same mirror that is on the 09 and 2010 models. I looked at them and they look like the same mirror, but someone tried to tell me the newer ones were better.
I'm just curious, I have the Shaffenacker's on ours and love them.

There is a difference in the new body style mirrors. Yesterday, I took a 2002 towing mirror mounting base and installed it on a 2008 towing mirror; and then I installed that mirror on my 2006. The 2008 bolt pattern on the mount was different and so was the electric plug. The mirror is now a perfect match, but I still need to work out the plug differences. If anyone that reads this has the wiring schematic for an 2008 right side power-heated mirror and the 2006 right side door wiring schematic, please post it.

So the mirror is exactly the same from the slide out except for the base?

The assembled product when mounted on the truck looks exactly like the original 06 towing mirror. If you use the new body style towing mirrors, you will need to use a mounting base from the older style body. The base I used was from a mirror like the one on the silver truck pictured on the Members Area home page. You will also have the plug connector issue.

Thanks, I was just wondering if they improved on them from the classics. They are much better than the earlier pre 04 style towing mirrors but in my opinion not quite as good as the Shefanekers. "Gee I never spell that right" Thanks again.

The new ones are better because they aren't crooked :rolleyes:

Having used all of the afformentioned, there is no comparison to the Shefenakers.

Thanks John, that's what was different about them. I sat in a new 2010 with them and they seemed better than my stock 07 one's did. I remember now my, the 07's were at an odd angle.
