Is there any trick to removing or installing resistors in the PMD? I want to swap the ones I've got in my 2 PMD's. One has a #5 resistor and one with a #9. I've just read that the resistor matches to the pump, not the length of the cable. Is that true?

I've got the latest model pump on my 95 6.5, which had a #5 resistor installed in the PMD. I'm going to remote mount the PMD, and the one with the #9 resistor is already mounted on an aluminum cooler. Both PMDs were known good, and I'd like to just swap the resistors rather than change out the PMD on the aluminum cooler.

Looks like there are two little holes on each end of the resistor. Is a special tool required?

Bend the ends of a paperclip into little "L" shapes and hook them into the holes and pull.

Yes, the resistor matches the pump. The PCM reads the value to learn the pump calibration.
